In July Sami and I gathered up the kids and headed to MO, and AR. What a blessing to have our kids and the Rubio kids together again. It was hard to get them all together for a picture though. . .

Beagle Morning

Filed under: Joshua, A Mother's Life — Posted by Jami Leigh at 10:44 am on Tuesday, August 30, 2005

Joshua and I waved goodbye to Kaleb and Charleigh as they went into school. We turned and headed down the side walk that weaves through the park. It was a beautiful morning. We stopped at a park bench and watched as the cars drove by and as parents dropped their kids off to school. Joshua pointed out the trees, a butterfly and a rock. Suddenly he looked up and said “How about if this be a “beagle” day?”. “A what day?” I asked. He pointed to the grocery store across the street and said “you know a beagle day, where we eat a beagle”. “Oh, do you mean a bagel day?” I asked. “Yep, thats what I said.” he replied. Off we went to the store, I bought him a giant bagel, (none for me, you know: the carbs) and we started walking home. The birds were singing and the squirrles were running past. Joshua declared “This is the BEST Beagle day ever” Yes it is!

Forget the Sugar I’m going on a “Gas Fast”

Filed under: Random — Posted by Jami Leigh at 4:03 pm on Monday, August 29, 2005

As fuel prices are soaring I keep on driving. Why? I live 3 blocks from the school, 4 blocks from the grocery store, about a mile from the church and a mile and a half from the bookstore/coffee house. All of these are reasonable walking distances. In fact, in the event I was a good grand daughter my great grandmother is only 3 blocks away and my grandparents are only a few blocks farther.

Why, Why, why have I been driving this whole time anyway? Forget the gas prices, I should have been walking anyway. No wonder I gained 10 pounds, I’m too lazy to walk 3 blocks, instead I have to load the kids up in the minivan just to get to the park.

No! Not any more not at nearly $3 a gallon. I am putting on my garage sale Nikes and footing it. Of course if dear ole hubby is joining me on any of my excursions we may have to discuss it first, but as for my offspring, and me we’re about to be getting a lot more exercise.

Did you miss me?
