I don’t send forwards, I don’t read forwards. Today I received one from a dear friend who holds the same forwarding policy as myself. This one is actually worth reading and acting on:

Please don’t think less of yourself than you ought to think. But rather, know that your prayers BY THEMSELVES can cause a lessening of damage or loss of life, if you would just pray about this oncoming hurricane, called RITA.

  • Call upon God and say, “Lord, cause the meaning of RITA — which means ‘pearl or precious’ — to live up to its meaning and treat YOUR PEOPLE, and those we pray for in Texas and Louisiana, as ‘precious pearls’ in your sight, Lord.

“Lord, Houston has shown great mercy to New Orleans. You say that those who ARE MERCIFUL, they themselves will be SHOWN mercy. So, Show Texas and the Gulf Coast Mercy, Lord! For they have shown great mercy, Lord.

    “In Jesus Name! Amen!”

    Texas Flag

Dear Jesus, please have mercy on our land. May God bless my Texas and her neighbors.

    Matthew 8:23-27

23Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

26He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
