Yesterday rather than driving Kurt to work I convinced him to take the van. I would walk wherever we needed to go. Since we generally walk anyway I figured this would be no problem and it wasn’t. Until it was time to pick up the kids from school. I was running a few minutes late due to the constant ringing of the phone. I ended the conversation just in time to grab Joshua and start walking (perhaps we needed to run). As I went in to pry him from his Chutes and Ladders I found Joshua had disrobed and fallen asleep on the floor. Grrrrr. Through all the jostling of getting his clothes back on he was still asleep. “That’s Ok, he can ride in the stroller . . .wait the stroller is in the van.” Ugg. Joshua wouldn’t wake up; he would take two steps and fall back on the floor. Vital minutes ticked by as I was struggled to get him to wake up. While contemplating carrying the 31 pounder all the way to school I let out an audible “God Help Me!” At that very moment the phone rang. I almost didn’t answer it; I didn’t have time for any more chitchat. Giving in I picked it up at the last minute, my dear friend Sami was on the line. “Do you want me to give the kids a ride home since you don’t have your van?” “YES!” Thank you God for Sami! I covered Joshua with a blanket right where he lay on the carpet. He smiled. I smiled. I collapsed on the couch in relief. Now I know it wasn’t a big deal. I could have made it in time to pick up the kids and Joshua most likely would have waked up enough to walk on his own . . .eventually. The point is my Father takes care of the little things; he cares about my motherly stresses and irritations. Thank you God for taking care of the little things, and thank you for Sami.
