After Wednesday’s rant about money my twin sis Amy posted about my financial predicament and requested donations towards Charleigh’s Tubes. I want to say thank you to her, who gave $50 and to Debbie (a precious lady whom I’ve never met but whose husbands blog I read) who also gave $50. What a blessing! This money will help so much, added to the money my parents gave, this is quite a chunk out of the bill leaving me with only $635.00 to deal with. Folks 635.00 is a lot less then 785.02! What a blessing!

Charleigh is doing great! She is happy, bouncy and back to normal, well except that she can hear now!

For those interested I’ve highlighted the events of Charleigh’s Yesterday.

So tomorrow’s tubetasticular events are still on. After many a call and actually canceling the surgery twice I then received a call from the Dr.’s office saying that Dr. Kennedy would not allow for us to put the surgery off, it was vital we have it tomorrow and that his office would contact the Surgery center and make sure that a payment plan could be worked out. I am supposed to contact “Rita” upon arrival whom will make reasonable financial arrangements. I’m a little nervous as to what Rita sees as reasonable, but I’m excited that my baby girl will be getting her surgery after all.

I figure she has to have it; each day we wait affects her hearing. So as long as we can get it done we’ll figure out how to finance it afterwards.

I have been blessed with $50 from my parents, which will help appease Rita as a down payment as well as $1.80 and some dove dark chocolate from Sarah, which will appease my tummy while I sit and wait for the procedure to be done.

I had generous offers of help from both Amy and Janae as well but thanks to the possible payment plan I won’t have to borrow any money from anyone.

Please pray for Charleigh tomorrow morning as she gets her tubes and continue to pray for financial blessings so we can make whatever payments Rita deems necessary. While you are praying you might as well pray that we can also pay all the other medical bills accrued over the last 6 years.

With love,
Jami Leigh

Charleigh (pronounced Char- lee) has been receiving some teasing for her masculine name. The kids often call her “Charlie Brown” or “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” Initially she became outraged yelling her full name at the top of her lungs each time they teased her.

Kaleb and I worked with her on better responses. Kaleb told her if she didn’t get mad maybe the boys would leave her alone. They practiced her responses:

To Charlie Brown she would say in a jovial tone “Hey! Maybe I should get a dog named Snoopy”

To the Chocolate Factory quips she would reply, “Everyone likes chocolate”

My Charleigh tried these tactics for a month to no avail. This afternoon she updated us on the situation. The kids still kept giving her the unwanted nicknames.

Big brother Kaleb tried to encourage her. Perhaps the boys were teasing her because they liked her. After all; Charleigh is a “famous star” name. Maybe they liked her because she was in reality a “star”. I could see in her eyes that the 7yr old wisdom had struck a cord. “You mean it’s like I’m a star?” she asked in excitement “Yes” he said.
“After all, there are a lot of famous Charlie people. In fact my favorite Charlie is Charlie Brown” Her face dropped, her temporary smile gone, she dropped to her knees and looked up at him “I thought I was your favorite Charleigh!”She cried. Quick to mend her feelings he assured her that he was talking about his favorite “pretend” Charlie and that everyone knew she was his favorite “real life” Charleigh. As quickly as she fell she jumped up and gave him a hug.

I have a feeling Kaleb is going to make a good husband. He is already in training and has almost mastered the art of talking to a woman.

Interesting side note:

Kurt came home from work this morning; he quickly showered and changed clothes apparently preparing for a mid day excursion. Where is my dear husband headed I asked? Why interestingly enough he is on his way to Boise City, Ok where he will be escorting Elvis’s Step Brother to a High School Assembly.

Hmmm Elvis’s Step brother?!? Are you wondering if Elvis’s stepbrother has name? I am. Or are you contemplating how my Mechanic husband got the job to chauffer him around the Texas/Oklahoma Panhandle. Of course any of you who know Kurt won’t question it. If something needs done, if someone needs a volunteer Kurt is the one to call even if your related to Elvis.
