Random Update:

Filed under: Journal — Posted by Jami Leigh at 11:24 am on Sunday, October 30, 2005

It’s been quite a while since I’ve had any down time for blog time. Due to my dear 3 yr old vomiting 10 minutes before we left for church this morning I’ve found myself at home instead of teaching Sunday school. I’m a bit disappointed as this was the first Sunday in a long time that I had the three kids, my husband and myself fully dressed 30 min prior to departure time. (Perhaps thanks to the time change)

So here I sit trying to decide which of my life’s recent interesting and amusing events to share with you. I’ve had a lot of blog worthy happenings but thanks to said events I’ve had no time to share. Here are a few:

Life Changes:

Kurt has been offered and has accepted a great new job. While he will be working for the same company he will office out of Amarillo, TX. Thus a move is in the future. We currently own our home and will need to sale/rent it before we can relocate. (Anyone interested in a 3 bed 1 ½ bath brick house with an attached garage and a big back yard? For the low low price of $57,000)

We are planning to move to the Amarillo area as soon as our house is taken care of. I would prefer to live in Channing, but housing is scarce in such a small town. If anyone has any contacts or info on housing in Channing or Amarillo/Bushland give me a call or leave me a comment.

Two Vehicle Family:

With Kurt’s new job he will be traveling quite a bit and with our new location one vehicle just won’t cut it for this family. We spent all of yesterday looking for a second mode of transportation. While we came home empty handed we were still the victors! With all the high-pressure sales men we still walked away standing our ground and not settling. We refused to spend above our budget or to buy something we didn’t want. While on our search where did we stop but at Bobby Duby Motors. (Remember, I talked about their commercial earlier this month) George Jennings was quite helpful and polite, a fresh breeze compared to the “hot air” we’d dealt with most of the day. I stayed in the van as Kurt and George discussed the Chevy S10 that had been sold the night before, there sat the very vehicle we had searched for all day, right price, right amenities, right everything except we were a day late. While Kurt stood there looking longingly at the pick up he could not have, George came over and asked if my last name was ——-. Well yes it was. Why? He had received my email about Joshua dancing on the van and singing “Duby, Duby” and had followed the link to my blog. Whaha, I have been recognized, hmm does that get me a discount? Wouldn’t matter anyway since Kurt’s darling S10 belongs to a nice man from Texline.

Broken Camera:

In honor of the many changes of our life I got my hair chopped off. Shorter than ever before, I wish I could show you a pic but whoa-is me my camera is broken. I feel handicapped without my camera; I am surrounded with Kodak moments every day. Each time I don’t have a camera to capture the moment I feel like the memories are slipping out of my hands.

Random Acts of Kindness

Filed under: Journal — Posted by Jami Leigh at 10:27 am on Sunday, October 30, 2005

Over the last month I have been on the receiving end of many random acts of kindness

Anonymous:
We received an anonymous gift of $50, what a blessing! Over the years we have received many anonymous gifts. In the beginning it would nearly drive me crazy thinking about who may have sent the gift. Over the years though I have realized that no gifts are really anonymous each one comes from my God, my provider. Thank you to whoever sent the gift, it arrived at the perfect time to meet a very specific need.

Moriah:
Last Saturday I found in my mailbox a package from my dear old friend Moriah. To my surprise she had sent both Charleigh and I personalized Italian charm bracelets. What Fun! It made my day, maybe even my week. My bracelet was personalized with links representing each child with their first and middle names as well as their birthdates. There were also links with each child’s birthstone as well as a link with Kurt and my names and the date of our marriage. So special! Charleigh’s bracelet came with her name spelled out in gold and with fun character links. Thank you Moriah.

Janae:
I never did get to update you on Charleigh’s last Dr visit. While waiting to get in and see Dr Kennedy and wishing I had gotten a babysitter for Joshua I thought to myself how nice it would be if Janae didn’t have to work, if she could just show up and offer to watch him while we were in the office. Not 2 minutes later in she walked right into the waiting room. Happy happy happy! Later she commented on how I didn’t even look surprised when she came in, I guess I wasn’t surprised. God always takes care of everything. Thanks Nae.
Later while checking out at Wal-Mart I realized I had forgotten my wallet in the van, there she was to bail me out. Thanks Nae.
After eating lunch with us Janae offered to take Joshua while we went to our next appointment at the audiologist, she then told me to go ahead and take Charleigh shopping before picking him up. Thanks Nae.

Aunt DeeDee:
Thursday we had a Worship Conference in town with Crea8tive, Wednesday I still had not gotten a babysitter. After arriving home from “Granna Anna Night” at church the phone rang and it was my Aunt DeeDee asking if I needed a sitter for the following night. Thanks Aunt DeeDee

Julie:
We had a banquet last week and I had once again forgotten to get a babysitter, as soon as I realized my predicament and began to think of people to call the phone rang and Julie informed me she would be taking care of the kids for me. Thanks Sis.

Sarah and Sami:
These two have blessed me so often this last month I can’t think of any specific events. Sarah sent me a beautiful card out of the blue and her phone calls always arrive at the right time. Sami seems to bail me out of all kinds of situations all the time; she also calls at just the right time. This past week she took me on a wild road trip searching for a pumpkin patch.

Free Long Distance

Filed under: Links — Posted by Jami Leigh at 4:33 pm on Friday, October 28, 2005

Ok, heres a plug for the long distance service I’m using right now. Thanks to
a tip from Sarah I used to use OneSuite quite a bit till I started having
connection problems. I then switched over to the AT&T cards from Sam’s; they
have since started adding service fees and taxes so I decided to give OneSuite
another try. The service is much better and the site more user friendly. With
rates as low as 2.5 cents per minutes, I recommend you give them a try. They
also have some cool features not available on any other calling cards I’ve
tried. It’s easy, just sign up here
and we’ll both get 20 minutes for FREE! Sure at prices so low thats only worth
about 50 cents but for 50 cents you could get anywhere from 1/6 to 1/5 a gallon
of gas.

Thankful for…

Robin emailed and asked if I could get the kids to tell me what they are most thankful for. She plans on including it in the church news letter.

I asked each child seperately in order to keep Kaleb from influencing the other kids’ answers. (he tends to do that)

I asked Kaleb and Charleigh: “What are you most thankful for?”

Kaleb: I am most thankful that Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins and that God is the greatest person in the universe.

Charleigh: What I am most thankful for is that God gave Jesus to everybody and not just somebodies and I am thankful for good friends and that I got to go to the pumpkin patch.

I asked Joshua: “What makes you happiest? What is your favorite thing God gives you?”

Joshua: God gave me a Abbye friend, a mom and a dad and I really like to drink milk with straws.

Asking for Directions

Filed under: Journal — Posted by Jami Leigh at 10:32 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2005

We’ve got a big decision to make today. You know one of
those choices that alters the direction of your life.

We’ve made a few navigational decisions in the past 10 yrs. Many times we look back and
wonder if we should have turned left when we turned right. Should we have went
west instead of east. Now we’re pondering north vs. south.

Directions.

I’ve checked the map and consulted with the map maker but I’ve yet to hear any
clear answer as to which direction to head. Please pray for us.

Missing Amy

Filed under: Journal — Posted by Jami Leigh at 10:05 pm on Monday, October 24, 2005

Amy is in a hotel in Somewhere, South Carolina.

I miss her.

I always hate it when she goes on these trips. Why it affects me I don’t know. We live 634 miles apart as it is. In this technological world she is no less accessible to me on the road then she is at home. She is wired wherever she goes; we are able to employ all standard means of communication at anytime through out the day. There is no reason I should be troubled by her excursion to South Carolina. Still I am anxiously waiting Thursday on which my dear twin sis will be once again in the confines of her home. I will be able to call or email her throughout the day just like always. But wait I can do that right now . . .what is wrong with me?

A dreary choice I know but I’ve wanted this book for sometime now. I’m thinking about getting it off of Amazon’s used list.
