Nothing much blog worthy happening now days…except for one little thing which I have been banned from mentioning. Until now.

Congratulation to my dear friend Janae who is expecting her precious new baby’s arrival in mid September.

WHOOOHOOOO!

and congrats to Bryan, Kenzie and Gammy as well.

Whooo, glad thats finally out. I thought I might explode! My kids are very excited for their new friend to arrive. With Julie’s baby coming March 8 they will be well in practice for the next one.

Joshua is the most excited. He keeps telling people he’s going to be a big brother. While cute it does cause some confusion. After explaining to people that “NO” I am not pregnant I then go on to tell them how Charleigh claims Kenzie as her “Big Sis” so Joshua fills justified in being this little one’s big brother.

Poor thing. I wonder if “Mouse” the cat would recommend Joshua as a good big brother. Perhaps. . . so long as he doesn’t try to fit the baby in a jelly jar.

Join us in our Bible Study. I’ve got quite a few I’m emailing this to as well as some who are clicking over from here. We would love to have you read along. Please come back and share a passage that stood out to you.

It’s not to much just a short little chapter. . .

John 5

Meanwhile for those interested I’m reading Exodus 24-28 in my personal study if anyone wants to discuss that.

Kurt’s job in Amarillo comes in especially handy now with us living in the middle of nowhere. Previously living a mere 3 blocks from United I used to make a quick run for anything we might need. Now 15 miles from the closest grocery store I have to think out my menu in advance. While I thought this might make things more difficult it has actually created an amazing new grocery deliver system. I now simply email my dear hubby a
detailed grocery list and he comes home with all necessary fare.

Simple right? Unless of course he’s not getting home till 6pm and my fridge is bare at noon. This is the time ingenuity kicks in. When in doubt make burritos. I can make burritos out of anything. Today they turned out a bit better than past experiments. It all depends on what I find at the bottom of the fridge. Here’s today’s concoction.
All amounts are based only on what I found in the bottom drawer.

1/4 cup sweet potato diced

1/8 cup green pepper diced

1/4 cup orange bell pepper diced

3 green onions diced

Saute in olive oil til potato is tender.

Add drained can of black beans

simmer.

Add a palm full of each:

chili powder

ground cumin

ground coriander

garlic powder

Continue to simmer till desired mushyness is achieved.

Then I heated the sole surviving flour tortilla in a skillet till nice and brown.
I topped the tortilla with the bean mixture and some cheddar cheese,
I rolled it all up and WhaLa: Black Bean Sweet Potato Burittos.

Of course if this were an actual recipe I would alter the ingredients greatly but it actually turned out ok. It’s these mix matched concoctions that lead to real ones. I had a lot of the mixture left over. I think tonight when Kurt gets home I’ll brown up some lean ground beef mix it all together and serve to the family. They’ll never know it came from the bottom of the fridge. . .

Thing have been pretty quiet in my little corner of the web. With not much time to write I wonder what I used to write. Wonder why I have readers at all. Hmmm maybe its just my time to be quiet right now. (All my friends now start laughing at this time in the post, we know Jami can’t be quiet)

There’s a lot going on right now. Life changes all around me. My baby sister will be giving birth to her daughter in less than 3 weeks. My twin sister’s life is changing extensively. It seems that all friends and family are experiencing major challenges and growth. Our little move seems small. Kurt’s new job is a blessing, the kids love their new school. God is using this time to move and change our hearts. We’re anxious to see what he has in store for us. The infinite blessings God has given our familiy are being revealed to our hearts more each day as we continue to find new things to be thankful for.

I guess for the time being I’ll have to get to work and worry about writing later. Until then know you are loved.

John 3-4

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006 | Author: Jami Leigh

Before the move I used to email a couple chapters of scripture each day to some friends of mine. I would title it “What we’re reading today”. In the last week Nae reminded me that I need to start doing that again and she suggested I post it here too. Originally I thought I would put off posting it here as I have no time to add any commentary. I decided this morning to go ahead and start and leave the commentary up to you.

I decided a good place for us to start together would be in John.
Today we are reading:

John 1-2

Read it then come back and leave a comment sharing what God showed you in His Word.

I realize that only a few of you will do this and that their are many Bible Study Groups already available online. I am creating this as resource for my personal friends who have asked for help and accountablility. Anyone else who would like to join our Bible Study feel free to jump right in!

January 25__

Tucking Charleigh into bed, pulling the pastel striped sheets up over her shoulders I appreciate the sweet moment of another day coming to an end. All is well in the house, only 8pm and I’ve got two kids in the tub and one squeeky clean brown haired girl already half asleep. With my husband in OKC I decided to put the kids to bed early and spend the remainder of the evening in quite aloneness. The aloneness that mommies rarely get. I’ve looked forward to this all day!

My plans of peace are shattered as a bubble covered 3 year old enters the room. more…

Hello, world.
I’ve been absent much longer than intended. We are still busy busy busy. I did last week receive both my cpap and my laptop back safe and sound. I’ve yet to have time to set up my computer and I still don’t have internet access. I however have stacks of stories piled in the back of my brain. With no time to write I’ve only jotted down quick notes in my journal to remind of what I’d like to share. Taking Amy’s advice I’m going to go ahead and post my old stories when I get a chance and I’ll past date them for you.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Entering our local pizza buffet; the place that is quickly becoming a Sunday custom for us, my family of 5 sit at the same table we sat at last week. The same couple that sat next to us the previous Sunday sits next to us again. We make conversation with the neighboring table which sits a lady who is a long time member of our church and her husband who does not attend. We are happy to once again get a chance to talk to the friendly guy who the kids have latched on to in past pizza experiences. I’m proud as the kids are making a loving attempt to share what they learned in Sunday School.

As we eat our traditional after-church fare Charleigh looks up says

“Mommy, we prayed for you in Children’s Church today!”

“Really, How nice! What did you pray for?” I ask as sweetly as possible aware that all around us are listening.

“I asked them to pray for you cause you were cranky this morning and didn’t want to go to church”

Lovely.

The man at the next table laughed hysterically.
“Don’t worry Charleigh, I guess I’m always cranky, I never go to church” he said.

I managed to laugh along and answered,
“Thank you sweetie for praying for mommy when I’m grumpy.”

“Sure, Mom anytime!” she replies proudly as she turns her attention back to piling little ham cubes on her thin crust cheese pizza.

Thanks Charleigh.
