What does it mean to be a mother?
A dear sweet friend sent me two questions by email a few moments ago:
What does it mean to be a mother?
What does it mean to mother?
Pretty deep questions. What does it mean? I took four or five minutes to ponder then pounded something out on my keyboard and sent it her way. Here’s a copy of my reply.
What does it mean to be a
mother?
To be a mother is to have so much love for
your children that you would be willing to pour out your life as an offering
to the Lord in order to deepen their faith and grow them into who they are
in Christ.Being a mother is pressing on to help your children know the amazing love
of Christ, the love that surpasses knowledge–that they may then be filled to
the measure of all the fullness of God.Being a mother is striving to be a true reflection of God, so that your
children will look into your life and see love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. This may not be what you were looking for but I do think it’s addresses the
real reason God gives us children; which is to grow them into Mighty Men and
Women of God.Please keep me in your prayers that I may be this mother.
Now, my answer to "What does it mean to mother?" I thinks its acting on all
the things I said that it meant to be a mother.Mothering is protecting, nurturing, teaching, and loving. Anyone of any age could “mother” anybody else. I think mothering
is a gift God gives us when we’re little girls. I see it in Charleigh, I’ve
seen her "mother" her great great grandmother. She "mothered" my Papa
Bill. And when she did that she was pouring her self out as a sacrifice for
them.I guess the conclusion I’ve just now come to and could have said to begin with is:
Mothering is a sacrifice it’s pouring yourself out into the life of
another.
What about you? What would you say if someone asked you? Please share with us your answer.

This is beautiful! Yes, this is a mother.
Peace to all.
