I have gotten the flu shot and was fine. My whole family gets it except my 2 yr old because he is allergic to eggs (and people with egg allergy are recommended not to get it because it is cultured on egg). He also has asthma so the ped recommended we all get it so we don't get the flu and pass it to him. It's only good for certain flu's though and doesn't cover the stomache flu (which plagued our house last year after Christmas). If everyone in your house is healthy with good immune systems, you could probably skip it. You probably should anyway until they determine whats wrong with your tummy. Hope everything is ok.

When I've gotten the flu shot, I suffered from flu symptoms from the shot. I felt horrid for a week after both times I've gotten it. I think for kids they break it into two smaller shots....but that was years ago I heard that. Who knows now?

I've had the flu twice before. It's not fun of course, but I lived! If your kids get sick easy or have any health issues the flu would complicate I would definately look into it.

But I'm not going to get any more flu shots. I'm not sure it was worth it.

I've never had a flu shot. I may have had the flu once...? I'm allergic to thimerisol, a preservative in the shot. If your children are sensitive to eggs or thimerisol, you may not want to expose them to it. I believe in immunizations against measles, mumps, rubella and so forth...I'm just not convinced that flu shots are necessary, since they only up a person's resistance to one of the many strains of the flu. But, it's up to you, really. :-) It may be the best thing for your kiddos, this year, and I may be misinformed. ;-)
