Yes, most people attending the funeral never notice it's a recording.

They've got things you can put in the end of a bugle to make it look like they're actually playing.

I don't recall ever hearing Taps at a funeral when it was a recording. The last funeral that I attended; a young woman in uniform played Taps in a cold rain. It started to pour just as she started to play. It somehow seemed very fitting. The Taps, the rain and the mood all blended together as one. If you were to only hear her, you would never have known she was getting soaked. I too, had no covering and knew the sting of the ice cold rain. I was awed at her ability to stand there playing as if she always did it that way.

I just saw a story on the news about a teenage girl in Alaska who learned how to bugle specifically because it bothered her that they played a recording. She said every soilder deserves a live bugler, so she practices that one song and was preformance ready in three days. They will play that for my dad and for my brother one day too. I hope there is someone that dedicated. Otherwise, I might need to take up the bugle myself.

I love to play Taps. There is so much feeling in every note. The length of them, the saddnes, yet there is hope and respect and home in them too. I do so love Taps.

1. Joshua does look very 'snappy' in that jacket.

2. Teenage boys are scary? Congrats on saying no.

3. I love Taps. It plays automatically every night at our house at 8pm. That means it's bedtime.

P.S. I knew you were planning on dying first. Wimp.
