Tonight we hug Sarah and Jeremiah goodbye. They’ll be heading home early tomorrow. They had a fun “cousin” night and posed for a “goodbye” picture. The kids thought it’d be a good idea to have a “sad bye” picture as well. We sure will miss them.

My kids are having a hard time saying goodbye, they’re happy that their cousins will soon be home with their mommy but they can’t imagine being so far away from them. They said their farewells with giggles and tickles but as soon as they got home the tears began. That was an hour ago; they’re still crying. Kaleb keeps asking if he can go back and get one more good bye. Charleigh asked if she could have something to hug that would remind her of them.

I’m not much better off, I snuck over and grabbed another “good bye” from Jer. We talked for quite awhile about his trip tomorrow; how excited he is to see his Mommy and how sad he is that his Daddy won’t be there. We talked about going back to school in Springfield and about seeing all his friends. He told me all his favorite parts about being here and all his favorite parts about going home. We ended it with 31 hugs and he promised to pass some on to Amy for me.

Good Bye

Sad Goodbye

We miss them already.

  1. Kaleb, Charleigh and Joshua,

Thanks for loving Jeremiah and Sarah for the last six weeks and making our time apart so much easier. Uncle Joel and I didn’t have to worry about them because we knew they had you. That helped us to focus on our mission and Army training. You three are Army heroes.

Don’t worry, I’ll bring them back to visit soon. At Easter and this summer.

    Love you.
