Joshua enters the room, solemn and proper; with great passion he proclaims:
“Tomorrow I will go outside and I will say ‘Wake up, Wake up little roly-poly, for it is your birthday and I am your friend.’ You see my dear mom, roly-polys don’t have birthdays but tomorrow mine will. Oh yes, yes he will.”
Holding his head high he turns and makes his exit.
I look first to the right and then to the left and wonder if we’ve somehow been transported into a classic children’s story book. It appears as if I’m still sitting in my living room but I can’t help but ask: What four year old talks like that?!?
Update: The poor roly-poly never made it to his birthday. Joshua woke up to find that he had died over the night.
