Each year on this day, April 16th, I stop and remember my friend Chalyn Imler. It’s been 14 or 15 years since her life was lost and ours were changed. Mortality showed its face that day and shattered the innocence of our youth. While I didn’t know her well I’ll never forget her.

Today I pray for her family who on this day are undoubtedly thinking of her too.

  1. I think it has been 16 years, wasn’t it our Freshman year? I can’t believe it has been that long.

  2. It was our Freshman year. We sat beside each other on the bus coming home from OKC a week or two before she died. We spent quite a bit of time together that weekend. I think we would have become friends, too bad we didn’t get the chance.

  3. If it was freshman year than it was 15 years ago. Kurt is having his 15 year reunion this year.

Moriah, can you believe it’s been 15 years since we sat in Coach Tube’s class and watched him hold Drew, desk and all up over his head?!?

  4. I forgot about Drew and his desk, Coach Tuberville was very interesting. I was thinking we were 14, but had just turned 15 when Chalyn died. I remember Amy Smith, I guess that is when we found out she was for sure pregnant. She lives in Texline, I think she has 4 kids. I met her husband one night at a July Jam event in Folsom, she didn’t come with him, it’s funny because he and Jeff worked together in Clayton.
