Every 5 years I spend a good hour trying to figure out how to spell the word which stands for tasty german meat turnovers “filled with cooked and seasoned ground beef, shredded cabbage and onions, then oven baked until the dough is golden brown.”
For my own future reference the word is spelled Bierocks. Not beaurox, burocks, beuroks , or even beer rock, but Bierocks. . .Oh, and sometimes Bierox.
Also for future reference:

After I make these I’ll replace the links for the recipe I use.
Thank you for your patience you may now go back to your regularly scheduled surfing. Unless of course you have your own Bierock spelling or recipe in which case I would love to hear from you in the comments.

There is a restaurant chain in Nebraska that makes similar sandwiches like that. It is called Runza. I don’t think they had cabbage in them….hmmmm, sounds yummy. I love cabbage.

Oh, ha! I followed the link and some people even call them runzas. Should have looked first, now I don’t look so smart. Hee, hee.

Debbie, come on over tomorrow and we’ll make bierocks/runzas. It will be great fun, oh but bring the cabbage I’m fresh out.

Oh man, if I had a working van we’d be there in a heartbeat. That would be fun!
Thanks for the book suggestion. We did read the first Yada Yada and kind of left it up to everyone else to read the rest if they wanted to. I may check out her husband’s book though. It looks like it might get a lot of people out of their comfort zone, but it’s good to do that sometimes.
If I every make it down to Texas, I’ll bring cabbage.
