Get to know Eloy Ortiz:

To the citizens of Moore County, Friends and neighbors, my name is Eloy Ortiz and I am running for Sheriff. I want you to remember me when you go to the polls on voting day. I would like you to know that I want the job, and that I ask for and need your support.

I was born and raised in New Mexico. I have been a Texas resident for 26 years, and a resident of Moore County for four years. I am married to a very lovely woman, Theresa; we have two sons and three beautiful granddaughters. After working 14 years in the service department at Plains Dairy in Amarillo, I became a contractor with FedEx Ground. I continue today to operate a successful business with FedEx Ground. I am proud to say that I have been in and a part of the Moore County area for eight years serving businesses and residences in Dumas, Sunray, Etter, Cactus as well as the Dalhart area. I enjoy serving people in any way that I am able to. I currently serve on the board of the Dumas Area Crisis Pregnancy Center, which is an awesome provider of ministry and other services to women in our area. I volunteer as a driver for Meals on Wheels and I have met some very interesting people who, even though they may have some disability, have a lot to say when we listen to and care for them. I was an officer for the Cactus Police Department for one year where I was named Officer of the Year in 2004. I was a Deputy of Moore County where I was named Deputy of the Year in 2005. I am no longer employed a s a Deputy in Moore County as of 12-28-07. Many of you know me as a man of my word, and I believe this trust is a very important reason why I am the best choice to be a leader in our community. I am proud to have served you in my duties as a law enforcement officer. For those who do not know me, I llok forward to meeting you and serving you to the best of my ability. I treat everyone with the respect that I would expect from them. My wife and I are members of and attend Grace Thru Faith Church in Dumas. God is very important in my life and I strive to live by His word. I thank God everyday for the opportunity He gives me to minister to every one I come in contact with. I want to thank you, my community, for the opportunity to protect and serve you to the best of my ability and to establish a relationship that will endure for many years to come. I am asking you for the opportunity to be elected as Sheriff of Moore County in the primary election on March 4, 2008. May God Bless you abundantly.

Eloy and Theresa Ortiz have been a great blessing to our family. This year we have been honored to have them as our host home for our small group. Each week they welcome us with open arms and open hearts. As we’ve come to know them we’ve seen time and time again that Eloy has a true heart for this community and all the residents in it. A more genuine man I’ve not met. Proud to call him friend and family I’m looking forward to calling him Sheriff.
