He Spoke:

A dear friend asked me if I would help her out. I immediately said “Sure”! Then she proceeded to ask me to write about how God had been working in my life lately. I wanted to say “Nope”, but you really can’t do that after such a confident “Sure”! The lesson here is never say sure until you’re sure you’re sure. (Please Read on …)

Cuddle

“So you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26

After a difficult day with my children I was happy to get to bed. They had spent the day fighting with each other, testing limits, continually disobeying, and intentionally trying my patience. More than once my two year old knocked his little sister down or yelled, “yucky mama.”* It was one of those days that reassured me that two children was definitely enough. A few hours after going to sleep, both kids had found their way into our crowded queen size bed. At 3:30 in the morning, I woke up to find my one year old asleep on my tummy and my two year old cuddled up next to me with his head on my shoulder. During that tired moment, I didn’t think of their earlier behavior, I didn’t push them aside because of previous disobedience. I lovingly wrapped my arms around them. My love for my children has nothing to do with their actions. It is unconditional. No matter how many times my son mutters “yucky mama” I will still love him.

As I held my babies close I realized that God must love me the same way. It doesn’t matter what I have or haven’t done. His love for his children is unconditional. Despite all of our disobedience he longs to pull us close. He wants to wrap his loving arms around us and cuddle.

[Note to all of you concerned parents… no I don’t let my son get away with calling his mama yucky. Don’t worry.]

Rescued by Christ at a young age I’m ashamed to admit I may have taken my salvation for granted. I cannot remember not knowing God’s love or Christ sacrifice. Having walked in grace for so long I was not aware nor did I truly grasp how very protected I had been. I was your everyday typical “comfortable” Christian. I knew God, I knew he loved me, and I knew he would love me no matter what. But it wasn’t till in this last year I really began to Grasp who my God is. After all these years of thinking I “knew Him” I realized I really only “knew of Him”. I did not have the intimate relationship with God that He so longs to have with His children.
