Cup of the Day

Filed under: Gift Ideas — Posted by Jami Leigh at 9:29 am on Monday, April 30, 2007

I thought I’d share some of my favorite coffee cups. I’ll leave it up to Amy to tell you what to put in them though.

How’d you like to wake up to this mug in the morning? I think it’s great, perfect for “getting your heart right” before you start the day. “This is the day that the Lord has made”… I love the coffee cups with the verses printed on the inside. That way you get a glimpse of God’s word with each sip. The prayer on the outside reminds you of the potential and purpose of each new day. Love it.

Check out these cute Bibles at
Christianbook.com

These would make a great Girl’s Birthday or Mother’s Day gift, they are normally priced around $25-$30 but right now you can get them for $11.99. They have two other styles as well but they are priced at $22. I of course like the pink and brown one but they’re all pretty cute. I have a gianormous study Bible and have been thinking it might be nice to have a small one to take to Church.

The Nativity and The Passion

Filed under: Faith, Gift Ideas — Posted by Jami Leigh at 6:00 am on Saturday, March 17, 2007

Have you seen The Nativity Story? This is a fabulous faith film that will most certainly find it’s way into many family traditions. The owner of our local movie theater was so impressed with the movie he offered a free screening of it to the community. Kurt and I took Kaleb and Charleigh who really enjoyed it as did we. It opened up a lot of questions and I remember wishing it was on DVD so we could pause it and answer each one. Now we have our chance.
The Nativity Story will be released on DVD on 03/20/07

By Word Entertainment, Inc.

The most magnificent portrayal of the nativity ever! Witness the struggles and joys of the Holy Family—and the Savior’s birth at the turning point of history. Epic in scope yet intimate in detail, this major motion picture spared nothing to ensure historical accuracy and cinematic power. A film to be cherished for years to come! (PG, some violence.) 101 minutes.

Surely you’ve seen Mel Gibson’s The Passion of The Christ, if not here’s your perfect opportunity to own your own copy. This Movie is available for only $9.99 right now! I know Kurt and I spent more than $20 on our copy. We went to see the film on opening weekend and honestly we haven’t watched the DVD yet, we’ve loaned it out a few times but never sat down to watch it again. While not necessarily a comfortable movie to watch it does hold a significant purpose. If you haven’t seen it I definitely recommend you do. It can be a life changer.

Here’s a picture of my favorite coffee cup. I got it from
Christianbook.com
. I found this mug on sale when I was at their site purchasing a
Francine Rivers
book for Sarah. I loved the pink and brown so I went ahead and ordered it I also got Kurt the green Faith one for Valentines Day. When they arrived they were much nicer than I expected; I’m going to keep an eye out for the next sale so I can get the rest of the collection.

I love
Christianbook.com
, I’ve purchased various books and gifts from them over the years and I’m always impressed with their service as well as their competitive prices. I’ve linked to them so often I decided to go ahead and become an affiliate. So now when I send customers their way I get a friendly little commission. What Fun. Seeing that this is where I actually shop I don’t mind telling you about them every now and again.

In honor of the recent DVD Release I am reposting my March review of “Amazing Grace”

444930: Amazing Grace, DVD Amazing Grace, DVD

Amazing movie, amazing website: Amazing Grace

This is a must see movie as well as a must visit site. Kurt and I went last weekend and where blown away by the beauty of this film.

The movie Amazing Grace brings to life the story of anti-slavery pioneer William Wilburforce as he struggles through 18th century politics to bring an end to the slave trade in Great Britain. This powerful movie not only reminds us of our past but inspires us to continue in the conviction and fight to end the slavery that still exists today.

The Amazing Change, a campaign inspired by the movie strives to “Carry on Wilburforce’s Vision of Mercy and Justice”. Visit “The Amazing Change” to learn more about Wilburforce, Slavery then and now, about their campaign and to find out what you can do to make a difference today.

NOT FOR SALE is another campaign to end slavery in our lifetime.

All these sites are rich with resources. There are even download-able study guides, faith guides, movie clips, and songs.
There are resources to learn more before you see the movie and tools for discussion after you see it.

See the movie, visit the sites and re-become an Abolitionist.
