Another perk of living in town is Vacation Bible School. The kids are going to two this week. In the mornings they go to an Assemblies of God for 3 hours, and in the evenings they visit a Presbyterian VBS for another 2 1/2 hours. Last week was the 1st Street Church of Christ, we missed that one. . .I must have been out of my mind. I love VBS/Kids Camp/whatever your church calls it. If you’ve got songs with hand motions, crafts, snacks, Bible Stories, and a puppet we’re in.

The Summer of 2005 was an awesome VBS summer. We lived in Dalhart and the kids went to every VBS but one. Living in the country for the last two summers the kids and mom have missed out big time!

Just a quick note to say I love love LOVE living in town! Not only do I love the new house and the great yard but the fantabulous neighbors and the abundance of friendly drop ins and the fact that I can drive to the store for soy milk anytime I please and oh yes; I have yet to find a snake on my front porch. I can’t even count all the wonderful friends that live here, if I tried I’d be sure to forget someone. People may think we’re crazy for moving here but now that I’m here I’d think we were crazy if we didn’t.

Good Times.

Currently I’m reading on the “read your Bible in a year plan”. This generally doesn’t work out for me because more often than not I end up cross referencing something and ending up in an entirely different part of the Bible. Now that I’ve got DSL though I’m having my current plan zapped to me daily and I’ll read straight through it once then pull out my “real Bible” (real meaning printed on paper and not digital) and dig in a little deeper.

If you want to jump in and read along you can click on over to the One Year Bible and choose your version and click on today’s day.

Today we read Ezra 7-8:20; 1 Corinthians 4:1-21; Psalm 30:1-12; Proverbs 20:28-30

Back in blogging days past I used to share a “Cup of the Day” (only not so very daily), instead of telling you what to put in it like Amy I’d just share one of my favorite coffee cups off of ChristianBook.com Next to Charleigh’s story I get more requests for new coffee cups than for anything else on this site. So here you go:

The Cup of the Day

45480X: Write-On Latte Orange Mug with Chalk Write-On Latte Orange Mug with Chalk

Leave special messages or important reminders on this uniquelatte mug, with chalkboard finish in brown and orange rim, handle and interior. Verse inside The Lord bless you and keep you. Numbers 6:24. Holds 18 ounces; comes with stick of chalk to get you started. Gift boxed.

I’ve been thinking of getting this for over a year now. You see each morning precisely at 6:30 I set a steaming cup of Joe on my dear hubby’s bedside table. I think it would be quite endearing to write a different little message of appreciation on his java each day before he heads off to work. They used to have a green and purple one; alas my procrastination has left me with orange. The loss of the two superior colors leads me to think I better hurry and grab this before it’s gone as well! It’s only $7.99

It’s back. . .even if for my own use. We used to post here what we were reading in our Bible study each day and then discus it. Today I won’t be going into any great interpretation or discussion I’m just trying to get back in the habit of posting again. I figure if I post a verse or two that stand out to me it will keep me accountable to my study and get my feet back in the water of blogging. It might not be good writing but then again it might. Perhaps if my fingers get back in the hang of typing and my mouse used to clicking we might just have a real blog here again.

1 Corinthians 3:10-16

10 Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.

12 Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. 13 But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. 14 If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. 15 But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.

16 Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in[a] you? 17 God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

Will my work survive or be burnt up?
Look at verse 15:
“But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.”

Something to think about.

Here we are, we’ve got a new home in a new town! I wouldn’t say were settled or even remotely unpacked but we are definitely home. We closed on our house last Thursday night around 10PM. If you know me give me a call or beam me an email and I’ll let you know how to find us. My DSL has been promised for tomorrow, after we’re reasonably unpacked I might just find my way back to blogging.

Love ya,
Jami
